The Darkest Hour takes place during WWII and is focused on how Winston Churchill, played by Gary Oldman, should deal with the enemy threat. It was an impeccable film that managed to win two Oscars and is deemed is pretty historically accurate… Most of the time. Unless you count this blooper, of course.
One scene depicts a lunch meeting between King George VI and Winston Churchill, who was the British Prime Minister at the time. There are servants present, but due to the sensitive nature of the topic, they would not have been allowed in the room. A campaign ran during the war, warning British citizens that anyone could be a spy, and those fears meant servants would not be present during important discussions.
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel is a crime comedy set in the fictional Republic of Zubrowka. We follow the fortunes of the concierges who work at the hotel during both the First and Second World Wars. There are literally tons of stars in this quirky movie, including Ralph Fiennes, Willem Dafoe, Adrien Brody, and even Edward Norton who is pictured here.
Although a great deal of attention has been paid to pretty much everything in the film, there is something the producers overlooked. Every single newspaper in the film shows the incorrect dates, as the dates shown do not match up with real dates on the calendar. Wes Anderson is known for his unusual style, so perhaps this was just a way of keeping audiences on their toes throughout?
The Shape of Water (2017)
The Shape of Water was a beautifully shot fantasy drama about a lonely woman who makes friends with a water-breathing creature. It is set during the ‘60s, with the threat of the Cold War looming.
The movie tells the viewers that the Amphibian Man is able to live and breathe in salt water, and it came from the Amazon River. Studies have shown that there are not high enough saline levels in the water for the Amphibian Man to breathe adequately.Basically, Guillermo del Toro shot himself in the foot by giving away too much detail in the first place. Sometimes, less is more if you want something to sound realistic.
Argo (2012)
Argo is the true story of Pomona CA escort reviews an undercover CIA agent trying to recover six Americans trapped in Iran in 1979. It starred Ben Affleck as that hero, and was even directed by the actor, too. This incredible movie managed to scoop three Oscars and was praised highly by critics at the time. However, it’s still an action movie and that means it’s prone to some odd mistakes.
When the Swissair Boeing 747 is being chased by police cars on the runway, it just seems like any other action shot. Then the plane takes off, but the cars still keep up with it. They would have had to be driving at around 160 miles per hour to do so. It’s the kind of blooper we see in action movies all the time, but the director just expects us to believe it – for the drama!
Lady Bird (2017)
Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan in a coming-of-age comedy drama. Her character, Lady Bird, is attending a stuffy Catholic high school and is struggling with the lack of excitement and adventure there. Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, the movie was praised by critics and even managed to win a whopping 120 awards in total!
During the film, Lady Bird decides she must find a way to have some kind of fun experience before she goes to college, so she goes looking for it. In one movie scene she is talking to a boy, but as the camera switches shots, it’s clear she isn’t really talking as her mouth is not moving. It’s not even a little bit of a mistake, it’s so blindly obvious that it kind of takes away from that moment in the movie.
